This past week I was honored to find out that Cincinnati's WCPO featured my website on a segment about saving money at the Red's game. Add Comment Is it safe to buy tickets on Craigslist? 04/10/2012
I learned something last year about how you can get scammed by buying tickets off of Craigslist. One way this happens (I am sure there are others) is that people will sell tickets twice. Read on and I'll explain.
New Food Coming to Great American Ballpark 03/30/2012
The Food Network will now have a stand at Great American Ballpark. The stand is near section 130, by the fan zone. It has a "Cincinnati" dog, which has pork rinds on it. There are also a few other menu options at the Food Network stand which sound amazing, but it is a little pricey. Everything is about $7 - 10. Most of the new items are found at the Machine Room Grille, which is up on the second level near the left field foul pole. From out side, you can enter directly from the concourse near US Bank Arena. One item that I heard people raving about , is the mac & cheese with strips of steak in it. I haven't tried it yet, but this may be worth spending a few bucks on. FYI you can only get into the Machine Room restaurant on game day with a ticket. However, the patio seating is first come first serve where you can watch the game while you eat. If you have lived in Cincinnati for any amount of time, you have undoubtedly heard of the "Banks Project." The good news is, for the 2012 Reds season, the Banks are actually going to be a big benefit. Read on..

Take a Free Taxi to Yankee Stadium 05/23/2011
That's right! It is actually a free water taxi, which picks up in Manhattan and then drops off at Citi Field and Yankee Stadium. There isn't any return service, but it could be convenient if you already find yourself in Manhattan before the game. Complete details can be found in my Yankee Stadium Guide Cardinals Introduce Dynamic Ticket Pricing 04/13/2011
For 2011, the St. Louis Cardinals are using dynamic ticket pricing for all of their home games. As it sounds, the price for tickets fluctuates with market demand. I like this idea and anticipate that it will spread throughout the league. Virtually every team already charges different prices for "premier games" and this is simply a more sophisticated extension of that concept. The good news for you is that you can find $5 tickets at Busch Stadium, when the game isn't a very exciting match-up. However, to see a rivalry game you may end up paying much more than you used to. The concept usually means the earlier you buy, the better deal you get. However, this makes planning ahead that much more important for a fan on budget. You may want to watch the Yankees when they are in town, but is it worth $20 more per person instead of seeing the Royals? It will be an interesting dynamic. For more information, check out my Busch Stadium Guide. My Busch Stadium Guide has just been updated with 3 new bars/restaurants that offer free (or cheap) shuttles to and from the Cardinals game. This is a great idea for so many reasons, not the least of which is that you can fill up on food and drink at real world prices, and then you don't have the hassle of fighting traffic around the stadium. Save money and time going to a Cardinals' game? That is a win-win. |
