Charging the mound is a lost art in baseball. Yes, I said it. Fighting in a non-contact sport is probably more fascinating than fighting in a contact sport.

Don't lose this article. Enter your email below, and I'll send it to you right now. Plus, we'll send you other unbelievable stories from baseball's past.

Why? Well, it's the spontaneity of it all. Because there is never a time when a player is forced to make violent contact with another player, the unexpected nature of it actually happening immediately puts fans on the edge of their seats.

Video: “Every mound-charging in MLB history | The History of Charging the Mound” by Secret Base on YouTube

Secret Base is one of my favorite sports channels, and they cover a lot of oddities in baseball with a hyper-active focus. That turns into charts and graphs galore that us viewers get to marvel at. I really think that it's a unique passion for someone to go out of their way to search up every single mound-charging in the history of baseball.

It's not like that specific thing is tracked in a stat book. So what we have in this video is the very hard work of one man collecting a bunch of data and organizing it in a tasteful way.

I can't help but chuckle at the fact that something so trivial as charging the mound is getting looked at with such scrutiny to the point where each fight is rated on a scale of one to five. That's the beauty of this video, and I hope you enjoy it. I might highlight another episode in this series (yes, graphs on charging the mound have been made into a 10-part YouTube series), but for now, go ahead and watch it and let us know what you think.

This series is as unique as it gets.
