English is a hard language. Maybe the hardest. With the United States being the melting pot of the world, it has seen a lot of different types of names cross its shores.
Don't lose this article. Enter your email below, and I'll send it to you right now. Plus, we'll send you other unbelievable stories from baseball's past.
We're taking a look at some of the players in MLB history who had their names changed or pronounced differently thanks to the way Americans have spoken over the last 100 years.
The channel called Game Winning RBI does a good job of not only naming these players but also putting some background on them and giving the viewers a chance to really learn about the guy behind the name. I think one name I was fully unaware of was George Bell. I had no idea that he went ahead and got his first name legally changed to George since that's how people were calling him.
Enjoy this episode, as there are many names that this man goes through to talk about their anglicised versions. It's pretty amazing to see how many of the all-time greats are on this list, as this channel seems like it can go on and on with more examples. We'll just stick to this video for now, and let us know if you want to do more of them in the future.
