We're going to talk about one of the more frustrating lists that you could talk about. When it comes to the All-Star Game, it is more of a recognition of the players who are just very good at playing baseball. The fact of the matter is, if you were very good, you would at least be a one-time All-Star.
Don't lose this article. Enter your email below, and I'll send it to you right now. Plus, we'll send you other unbelievable stories from baseball's past.
In this video, Jolly Olive does a very good job of covering some of the biggest snubs in All-Star Game history. I want to basically add to what he was talking about when it comes to deciding on All-Stars. I think one of the things that comes first when he talks about the players who got in ahead of these on the list are the ones who got in via the fan vote.
That's something that wasn't really a thing back in the day. But the fan vote has affected how All-Stars have been given out in modern times. I guess I can't complain too much, as I do think that All-Stars should also be in the eyes of the people who watch.
Then there's the other aspect of players getting All-Star recognition. Offense is just better to watch than defense. You'll find that at least a couple of the players on this list were known as terrific defensive players.
Defense may win championships, but it does not earn you All-Star game appearances. That's just how it has been in baseball history. I know there are plenty of great defensive players who have made an All-Star team in the past, but more often than not, those are the players that will get passed up for a guy that can hit some home runs.
I hope you enjoy this video because I think it's a nice little mix of modern-day players and players from the past who are all-time snubs. It has happened for a while, and I'm sure it will happen in the future.
