Giancarlo Stanton
Giancarlo Stanton, born Giancarlo Cruz-Michael Stanton in Panorama City, California, made his MLB debut with the Florida Marlins on June 8, 2010. Standing at 6 feet 6 inches and weighing 245 pounds, Stanton is a physical specimen who quickly gained a reputation for his prodigious power. Early in his career, he was known as Mike Stanton but later switched to his given name, Giancarlo, to honor his heritage and uniqueness.

Nelson Cruz
Nelson Cruz, or “Boomstick” as he’s affectionately known, hails from Las Matas de Santa Cruz, Dominican Republic. Cruz’s path to MLB was more circuitous than Stanton’s. He signed with the New York Mets in 1998 but didn’t make his MLB debut until September 17, 2005, with the Milwaukee Brewers. Cruz’s breakthrough came later, during his time with the Texas Rangers, where he truly became a household name.
Cruz’s 2009 season marked his arrival as a power hitter, smashing 33 home runs.
